Former CSI Star, Gary Dourdan, Files for Bankruptcy

Posted By Law Office of Marshall D. Schultz || 27-Nov-2012

According to reports, actor and former CSI star, Gary Dourdan filed for bankruptcy protection earlier this year on the same day he filed an injunction in an effort to prevent Wells Fargo bank from auctioning off his home and property. Court documents show that while Dourdan currently has $1.8 million in assets, he also has $1.73 million in debts. The majority of his debt is owed to Union Bank and Wells Fargo bank, who holds the mortgage to his home. These documents also show the actor claims his monthly disposable income is a mere $321, after $14,562 goes to bills. Although the actor was formerly sued for unpaid credit card debt, this is the first time he has filed for bankruptcy protection.

Bankruptcy is not designed as a way for people to simply walk away from their debts and leave their creditors paying the bills. It is a way for good people, who have found themselves facing an extremely difficult financial situation, to get help so they can get out from under their mounting debts and be able to move on with their lives. Many situations can bring people to the edge of financial ruin. Divorce, the loss of a job, health issues, and more can all cause a person to fall behind on their debt payments to the point where they are unable to recover on their own. In cases such as these, bankruptcy, or any of the alternatives to bankruptcy may be a viable option to help get a person back on their feet and moving on the road to financial freedom.

Not everyone qualifies for bankruptcy, however. In an effort to prevent fraudulent filings, the bankruptcy process is extremely detailed and complex. Extensive documentation is required in order to show that you do in fact qualify to file. For more than 25 years the bankruptcy lawyers at the Law Offices of Marshall D.
